To be honest, I don’t remember how I found this frenetic Japanese pop song but I’m gonna guess I heard it on the University of Georgia alternative college radio station, WUOG-FM Athens. That’s where I find a lot of these songs that have 4,000 views on YouTube and you’ve never heard of them but the second you hear them you are like, my god this is fascinating and different from all of the globular mainstream nothing served hourly into America’s ears every day by the monopoly music industry.
They’re a Japanese group that formed in high school a decade ago and they include some twins, and their reported influences run in my taste circle: Justice, Chvrches, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers, and Gorillaz.
Thanks to you and your support, my work has reached millions of people just like you in newspapers, podcasts, TV, and radio, netting appearances on “Good Morning America,” “Marketplace” and, sure why not, “Sharknado 4.”
I’ve interviewed hundreds of icons and celebrities from Prince backstage to Kim Kardashian on the red carpet. I’ve won journalism awards. And I’ve promoted charities to help feed and shelter people and pets in need. I couldn’t have done any of that without you.
Your support gives you a direct say in what I cover.
